I am really happy to introduce the blog to you this week in celebration of the Bucks Housing Support Service’s first anniversary!
I can’t believe it has been a whole year since I became Operations Manager for Buckinghamshire and I was introduced to a team of new faces who had been TUPED to P3.
When I look back on that time I just remember feeling so very privileged to be meeting some really friendly and positive people and excited to start a new journey delivering a much-needed and fantastic service to the people of Buckinghamshire.
So, just to tell you about us. We are a community-based housing support service, working alongside people across Buckinghamshire who have an imminent threat of homelessness. Our priority is to prevent homelessness, but we also deliver a holistic support package to increase people’s independent living skills.
Anyone who has been part of a TUPE process understands that it’s not always easy, having to leave your old colleagues and start anew, but the Bucks team couldn’t have been more welcoming to me, embracing P3 and all its weird and wonderful ways!
The team have worked tirelessly to not only adapt to P3’s procedures and systems, but also to a new contract framework. We have successfully promoted three team members, recruited four new staff, two volunteers, appointed three CRIS champions, two wellbeing champions, one safeguarding champion and two H&S champions!
Everyone is doing a fantastic job and I couldn’t be more proud.
Over the past 12 months we have worked alongside 422 people and have prevented a whopping 257 evictions. We have supported people to access new accommodation including fleeing domestic abuse and to feel more confident and safe in their homes. But don’t just take my word for it — here's some feedback from people who attended our recent Feedback Forum:
Year 2 is going to be even better. Since meeting with our commissioners, we are now able to offer more flexibility for those who can access our service and improve the overall experience for the people we work alongside…we are so excited!
