Hi everyone

My name is Jane Bellamy and I manage the BeWell Service in Derbyshire (I am also Wellbeing Champion for this area), alongside Deputy Service Manager Jen Thornton.

We support people with varied and complex needs who are in receipt of a personal budget from their local authority, and are experiencing mental ill health.

One of the most important ways we work with people is to enable them to access places, activities and social opportunities that enhance and improve mental wellbeing. This gives our staff and volunteers the chance to explore innovative ways to achieve this.

Over the last year, our team in Chesterfield have been looking at the immense power and influence music can have on people. I speak to a lot of clients who are part of our music group and it’s something that’s very special to them; music takes people to a place that is so positive and the level of enthusiasm is just amazing.

I hope you find the video below captures this and gives you a window into how our service works with people. Thanks to Laura from Comms for spending the day with us and the hard work that went into this video, and to our amazing and talented volunteers, Asa Hudson and Martin Baxter.

Jane
