I’m Clare and this is my second week here at P3 as Finance Director. So it’s all new to me and I am only just starting to get my head round who does what and where.
Prior to joining P3, I have held senior finance roles at Boots, the University of Nottingham and more latterly at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, where I was Head of Finance in the Customer Services Directorate. They are a national housing provider with around 55000 homes but they also deliver similar services to here at P3: women’s shelters, housing for refugees, schemes for older people and people with learning difficulties.
I’m really excited about this new opportunity for me at P3, bringing my skills and expertise, learning something new and hopefully making a real difference to some of our processes and procedures.
P3 is growing and in a really strong position financially and I’m looking forward to supporting the strategy of the organisation, supporting Mark and the Leadership Team with new initiatives, and developing the skills of my team.
As part of my induction I’m going to get out and meet all the Heads of Service and see the services we’re delivering. For me that’s an ongoing thing; being an accountant and just doing the numbers can be a bit dull! I need to understand the whole organisation to know what those numbers mean and make it real.
A bit more about me…
I ran my first ever half-marathon at the Robin Hood event last year and I loved it. I am a member of Notts Women Runners, a 5600 strong group managed through Facebook - you just post ‘fancy going for a run tonight?’ and generally somebody joins you. Keeps my stress at bay and allows me to eat cake.
I’m also Treasurer and a Trustee for Stonebridge City Farm in Nottingham, a community farm bringing the countryside to inner city kids, largely staffed by volunteers who would maybe find it difficult to find work and training elsewhere.
We have animals, grow fruit and veg and provide educational visits for schools, as well as free entry for anyone who wants to come. I’m really passionate about it, it’s just an awesome place. They’ve really turned a corner recently as they’ve applied for and won three years of lottery funding which is fantastic and given them some much needed stability.
Anyway, thanks for reading, I hope to meet as many of you as possible as I get out of the office but feel free to get in touch and say hello…
