It’s not all soup and sandwiches …
Hello everyone!
I’m Carmela Volpe and I’m the Service Coordinator for the P3 Cambridgeshire Street Outreach Team. I’ve worked for P3 since December 2019 when the project began and eighteen months in,
I’m still so excited about my job, I honestly don’t think it will ever wear off!
We are small but mighty team of three and I’m amazed every day by the hard work and dedication of our Support Workers – Austin Whiteside and Tara Houseago.
We are a diverse bunch of people with many amazing skills and together we share a passion and dedication to end homelessness
for good. We’re also very good at walking which is handy as our service covers a wide rural area of approximately 965 square miles.
Talking of walking … every day in March this year I stepped forward to end homelessness, completely smashing my target steps (who knew?) and raised £150 for Crisis. Collectively participants recorded over 60 million steps and raised over £90,000 – AND most importantly I got a t-shirt 😊
Dave, my canine companion, had a great time too!
No two days are the same in street outreach and we have had
some highs:
“Accommodated, yay!!”
“You’ve been granted settled status, yay!!”
“You got the job, yay!!”
“They found your passport, yay!!”
And the odd low:
“They’ve got to be around here somewhere …”
“It’s a big boots day!”
“That was a big pothole.”
“Nettles and brambles are NOT my friends!”
