Hi everyone

I am Jodie Cook, the Volunteer and Training Manager for P3. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the noisy one in the HR team! This photo shows me with my newest baby Tilly who has been in my family’s life since January; and now I totally get the love that a dog brings. But enough about me…

It was National Volunteers Week last week and we want each and every volunteer to know how much they are appreciated by both our front line and core services. Each person who volunteers with us brings their unique qualities and skills to P3.

In recent months we have been developing a new volunteer steering group, made up of staff and volunteers; this is making real progress in shaping the improvement of the volunteer experience.

Even superheroes need someone to make sure that they don’t wear out their powers – this is where the new role of the Volunteer Champion comes in. This will be someone who helps coordinate and promote volunteering in their region, from looking for opportunities to recruit more volunteers and helping to organise events, to feeding back volunteer needs to us here in core services. I would be interested to hear from any P3 support staff who may want to take on this role. Just give me a call or drop me an email.

I will end on a quote – appropriately, from a superhero – which I think sums up the contribution of volunteers at Rugby Portobello Trust and P3: “Life doesn’t give us purpose. We give life purpose.”

Read on for some inspiring volunteer stories and photos from last week!

Jodie
