Roadshow brings wellbeing to local communities

Barber Tigg and beautician/make-up artist Kerry with P3’s Megan and Mel.

We have recently been successful in securing a £3,000 grant so that we can focus on the wellbeing of people in our services. The money awarded by the Leicestershire Grant Fund will allow us to hold four Wellbeing Roadshows across Leicestershire during the next year.

Our journey kicked off last week in Melton Mowbray at their food bank, The Storehouse.

The roadshows will provide an opportunity for our team to raise awareness of P3 services, link people with other services and provide advice whilst also more practically providing free haircuts, manicures and second-hand clothing for job interviews.

Big thanks to Tigg from  EVOLUTION: MAN and Kerry Beautiful You MUA (pictured at top) for lending their hair cutting and beauty skills on the day.

We believe that looking good plays a big part in feeling good and feeling good means that we do good!

Our first event was a roaring success and we managed to engage with 34 people. Information collected on the day showed that:

  • 58% people said it boosted their confidence
  • 41% people said it increased their knowledge of wellbeing and local services
  • 33% people said it was successful in linking them with other services
  • 91% of people said if we hadn’t travelled to their area, they wouldn’t have known about us

  • The team were really pleased with their first roadshow and can’t wait to hold the next one in August in Oadby!

    Staff wellbeing focus

We have also been looking after staff wellbeing too. As you are all aware, P3 have set up a wellbeing group to look after our amazing staff and have been promoting activities each month for teams to get involved with.

Mel (Service Co-ordinator at Leicester) has embraced the positivity and in April P3 Leicester held their first wellbeing walk. We had lovely weather and it was great to take the opportunity to support each other in a more relaxed setting whilst most importantly…eating ice cream!
